I hear the Supreme Cinema book has its issues, but the standalone release comes in a nice slipcover and normal blu-ray case, looks better, sounds better, has a bunch of extras and is definitely affordable.

You won't see the same upgrade as in other titles like Leon regular blu ray vs. I find it to be the best version of the film so far.

I liked the movie, especially in 4K, however I had made the choice to get this movie since the implied digital copy seemed to be the UHD version.

I feel that if you are buying the 4K UHD blue ray version of the movie and the digital copy is included in the package, then it should be also be the same quality of the movie, UHD.

Let me get this out of the way first - I love this movie. And then there was 4K. The noise is absolutely insane in this thing.

The fix, just play the standard Blu-ray version and let your TV or player upconvert to 4K. I bought this because it was 4K and had a digital code with it.

Received it on 9 March When I went to enter the digital code it didn't work, WHY? At least my fifth viewing Pretty dang perfect experience.

Something this good doesn't age quickly -- and it helps that it has all future settings with advanced sci-fi tech, so that won't age for a long time, eh?

Meanwhile, all the actors are so young now. Hard to believe the years have passed. I bought it. I so deserve to be sued.

I just indulge in this one. And even now I saw things I never noticed before. Really quite the amazing artwork in all the categories. So many of the "moments" imprint my mind.

The cab diving down across traffic, Zorg's forehead blood, LeeLoo's first costume, LeeLoo talking to Bruce in the cab, the Diva's singing, the long scream under the pool table, and on and on.

If you have never seen this film -- don't ever have an opinion about it around a water cooler -- you can't imagine this from there -- see it.

Real shame! This is a great movie but this edition is unwatchable as it has huge chunks edited out. This is a problem with most of the movies I have watched on Amazon prime.

What is the idea? Very disappointed in Amazon Prime Video as a whole. More people need to complain about the editing of content and the fact it ruins the story line and is an insult.

The Fifth Element was a great comedy sci-fi film flick written and directed by Luc Besson. It centers around an evil force that appears in the universe threatening to destroy everything.

The story was based upon the odd couple duo of those two characters. Korben was a loser and Leeloo was supposed to be perfection.

Could Korben help Leeloo to accomplish her destiny or would he screw things up? It makes it a one of a kind movie. See all reviews.

Top reviews from other countries. Translate all reviews to English. Translate review to English. But then again, opinions are like your backside It is a very specific type of quirky, so very likely not everyone's cup of tea.

The style is very nouveau-artistic, and is a fantastic backdrop to a story set in the far future that is honestly a lot more believable that most sci-fi movies out there.

It is neither all gleaming and shiny nor totally dark and desperate, but very much like a modern life, where there are rich people that have everything they want, and scoundrels living in the dark corners as bottom-feeders, and everything in between.

And of course McDonalds have survived! Bruce Willis plays a tongue-in-cheek cab-driver of a flying cab, and the story unfolds with some more fantastical elements including aliens and the ultimate baddy of course.

So guess-who has to save the day, and does so with his hilarious side-kick, Mr Supergreen - Ruby Rod! Save the day, save the world, save the girl, get the girl!

You know the drill. This is a review of the German 4K release of the Fifth Element. However its really easy to switch to English Atmos, and you also get the option of the special effects crew commentary soundtrack, which is missing on the US 4K release.

This is a twenty year old movie shot on film so there is some grain, more noticeable in some shots than others but generally quite light.

Some of the effects shots are a bit dated although most still look great. The Atmos soundtrack absolutely rocks too; big and bold throughout. The Blu-ray does have all the same sound options so you do get Dolby Atmos.

There are well over three hours of extras too. An excellent work of humour, with a multitude of stars in the cast, it is well worth watching and is still funny if viewed repeatedly.

The director Luc Besson artfully blends the futuristic and humorous plot to create a spectacular take on the not too distant future, injected with a universal irony and circumstantial humour to create an artful blend of entertainment suitable for young and old alike.

In it was released as a Remastered disc which improved on many of those issues. In , it was released under sony's new "Remastered in 4K" series in 2 different formats: A Blu-Ray only version and a "Supreme Cinema" series which includes a book.

Both versions include the SAME disc.. I definitely prefer the current Blu-Ray. Video-wise, I found it to be a slight upgrade over the earlier blu-rays it's a bit more vibrant, but other than that it's not too noticeable Audio-wise, it now includes a 7.

In the end, is it worth it? I hear the Supreme Cinema book has its issues, but the standalone release comes in a nice slipcover and normal blu-ray case, looks better, sounds better, has a bunch of extras and is definitely affordable.

Columbia Pictures , who had a partnership in Leon , agreed to finance the film. By this time Besson had decided to go with a lesser-known lead actor in order to save on production costs.

Besson asked to speak to Willis "just to say hello", and told him that The Fifth Element was finally going ahead, explaining the decision to go with a less-expensive actor.

After a short silence, Willis stated "If I like the film, we can always come to an arrangement"; [3] he agreed to take on the role after reading the script.

Production commenced in early August Besson traveled to various places for casting, including Paris, London and Rome. Jovovich and Besson held conversations and wrote letters to each other in the language as practice.

Wishing to shoot the film in France, Besson could not find suitable facilities and "with a heavy heart" filmed in London. The original name of the character Ruby Rhod was Loc Rhod.

The name appears in both the original script and in the novelisation of the film. Rubidium is the first of the period 5 elements , and exactly halfway along that row is the element rhodium.

Taking the first half of each element yields "Rubi Rhod". Three different teams handled the three different types of special effects used in the film.

Nick Allder was placed in charge of mechanical and pyrotechnical effects, Nick Dudman was placed in charge of 'creature' effects and Mark Stetson headed the visual effects team.

We had maybe 80 cityscape shots with CG cars hurtling around, and you couldn't animate them all by hand because there were just too many of them in each scene When the cars turned a corner, the velocity changes were automatic, so the animator didn't have to worry about that.

They just planned the moves in a very blocky way, and the mathematics smoothed out the rest. Amongst the scale models used for filming were the buildings seen in New York City.

Dozens of apartment blocks and 25 skyscrapers, some 20 feet 6. Cars of the film on display in Paris for the 20th anniversary.

He relies heavily on the use of orchestral textures, such as the oboe and strings heard as the surgeons prepare to regenerate Leeloo, and the pizzicato as she is reconstructed.

Serra also used many exotic influences, such as the Stalinist fanfare heard before the spaceport sequence, the reggae piece played in preparation for the flight, and the hula music that greets the passengers as they arrive in Fhloston.

It is one of the few pieces of music in the film that is diegetic. The end of Part One blends into the beginning of Part Two, creating a smooth transition between the two tracks.

Released as an album under Virgin Records , the soundtrack peaked at No. The film premiered on 7 May at the Cannes Film Festival , where it was selected as the opening film.

Guests were given a "Fifth Element" Swatch , which was used as their ticket for entry. The event included a futuristic ballet, a fashion show by Jean-Paul Gaultier, and fireworks.

The Fifth Element polarised critics on release. Kevin Thomas of the Los Angeles Times described the film as an "elaborate, even campy sci-fi extravaganza, which is nearly as hard to follow as last year's Mission: Impossible.

But at minutes, which seems a reasonable length, it plays long. The film was, however, subject to some harsh reviews that expressed disapproval of its overblown style.

Todd McCarthy of Variety wrote, "A largely misfired European attempt to make an American-style sci-fi spectacular, The Fifth Element consists of a hodgepodge of elements that don't comfortably coalesce.

Chris Tucker 's performance as Ruby Rhod also polarised critics. The site's consensus reads: "Visually inventive and gleefully over the top, Luc Besson's The Fifth Element is a fantastic piece of pop sci-fi that never takes itself too seriously.

Kermode recalled his own experience: "I remember very clearly being in Cannes when [The] Fifth Element was first played, and it really divided the audience.

Lavish visuals and entertaining performances from Bruce Willis, Milla Jovovich, and Gary Oldman make this movie worth watching. Willis spoke favourably of the film in a interview, concluding "it was a real fun movie to make.

I can't bear it. Giraud sued for Jodorowsky sued for , euros. The case was dismissed in on the grounds that only "tiny fragments" of the comic had been used [] and also because Giraud had been hired by Besson to work on the film before the allegations were made.

In , Besson stated that a sequel was never planned and that he has no desire to make one. The PlayStation version was generally met with negative reviews, [] though the PC version was better received.

Overall the Superbit version was given 8 out of 10; the final score was brought down by the version's complete lack of special features.

The second disc provides various special features, focusing on visual production, special effects, fashion in the film, featurettes and interviews with Willis, Jovovich, and Tucker, as well as featurettes on the four different alien races in the film and Diva Plavalaguna.

The first Blu-ray release of the film on 20 June was criticised as having poor picture quality by Blu-ray standards, and for its lack of special features.
